services, inc. . >> sean: the cost of president obama's arrogance could be off the fiscal cliff. he is deeply liberal, deeply ideological, reckless, irresponsible and no interest in seriously negotiating with the republican party and he's now putting partisan politics ahead of what is good for america. even the "washington post" is calling him out saying he has no intention to negotiate. writing: >> sean: let me repeat, the offer lacks any concessions. if you want the most recent concrete evidence of how irresponsible president obama is, you need look no further than his opening bid in budget talks. the proposal awd to republicans late yesterday courtesy of tax cheat geithner calls for the following: 1.6 trillion dollar tax increase, increasing rates on incomes over $250,000. 150 billion dollars in new public stimulus spending of which 50 billion would be spent next year. another extension in unemployment benefits, 30 billion. new power to raise the federal debt limit without congressional approval. in other words, an obama blank cheque. that is not all. he also wants the estate tax to

cliff than not to raise tax rates. so obama pushing higher taxes on the top 2%, not for economic reasons but for i'd logical reasons but there is also this obvious fact. obama wants to raise the top rates for political reasons. now that is he wants to force republicans to raise tacks in order to trigger a civil war within the gop and the conservative movement, and in that respect sadly obama is having some success. now so long as this debate is focused not on cutting spending but on raising daxs and revenues with the only question being which taxes, how much revenue, then obama wins. now if obama succeeds in making the argument not about his spending, but about grover norquist, he wins there, too. for republicans, on the other hand, if they can figure out a way to refocus the debate on spending, they win and the country wins. we can't kid ourselves that's correct is not easy to do. obama has the biggest microphone in the land and he also has the media in his hip pocket. all the gop has is control of the house. now it's very hard, it's inherently hard for any brin. of congress to

cliff? we'll examine the growing evidence that indicates this may be obama's secret plan. we'll have much more. hannity starts right here, right now. >> welcome to hannity. there are late breaking developments tonight related to the fiscal cliff battle being waged in washington. now, late this afternoon house speaker john boehner sent a letter to the president detailing a bold counter offer to the administration's plan. the g.o.p. proposal does not include a tax increase on the so-caldwell thee but does contain $800 billion in revenue through tax reform, another $600 billion in health savings and much more. all told, the net savings amount to around 2.2 trillion dollars. the white house responded to this letter by saying that the president is, quote, willing to compromise but not on the subject of making job creators pay more in taxes. however, what our tax and spend commander-in-chief fails to understand is that putting money into the hands of you, the american people, is the single best way to spur economic growth, and it's not just people like ronald reagan who understand this pri

appears the very definition of the american dream is now being rewritten by president barack obama. now, today our commander-in-chief publicly said he's not going to play games with the fiscal cliff, but that is just not reality. right now the president is playing a very dangerous game of chicken and this is with your paycheck and the american dream. meanwhile, the republicans have allowed themselves to get caught in a circular firing squad. they're negotiating publicly among themselves while true conservatives and tea party members are being removed from key committees. today speaker john boehner adopted the president's class wawarfare rhetoric. shocking? watch this. >> we've got to cut spending, and i believe it's appropriate to put revenues on the table. now, the revenues we're putting on the table are going to come from, guess who, the rich? there are ways to limit deductions, close loopholes, and have the same people pay more of their money to the federal government without raising tax rates which we believe will harm our economy. >> all right. this is perhaps the most disappo

hides and the slem hammer we're robbing them with. if obama wants to take the country off the fiscal cliff, they need to go there. they seem afraid of that. do you see that. >> it's clear from the election that the majority of americans essentially voted for european levels of spending. you can't have european levels of spending. we're one percent under canada. there's no difference any more, not in terms of government spending. we're close to norway. we're not quite to sweden yet, but we basically are spending like europeans, but we're not taxed like that. the idea that you can close that gap, i think he figured out if he can make this level of spending permanent, he changes the united states into a european socialism democracy and he'll be the most congress consl president of the last hundred years. >> it seems like we're close. we're right on the edge with all of the predictable results. >> i think you can be spee den if you -- sweden. he's risking ruin on a scale unknown, and of course, the other obvious point is that the youeuropeans are only able to do that because in fact the

everybody? then if the fiscal cliff is hit, then the persons that will be hit are president obama and harry reid. >> every single house republican needs to be involved in communication. if they passed a bill that extended the tax cuts for everybody and every single one of them went on local tv and local radio and said we have now passed a middle class tax extension, all the president has to do is sign it, you would have a totally different debate going on the next day. >> sean: this is what i feel is missing. the discussion, and as best i could, i'm trying to explain it, about conservative prime princi, about what's al at stake, and ai hear is or i sense a fear they don't want to go over the cliff and i sense a fear on the pr front and just even the president with the whole language of the debate seems like a defeat to me. >> i don't understand why they haven't said from day one this is the path to a balanced budget that has to involve entitlement reform and spending reform. i went to analysis on monday and interviewed mitch daniels who has been a terrific governor. mitch needed $3 bi

obama. maybe they need to show a willingness to go over the so-called fiscal cliff. now, if the president really wants to take the country there, maybe they need to let him go there. here's the bottom line. what are we hearing from the white house? we're hearing the president will not negotiate unless taxes are raised on job creators, and we're hearing that the president now wants to seize control of the debt ceiling from congress. well, that means rather than needing the approval of the house was the senate to raise the nation's spending limit, president barack obama wants to do this all by his lonesome, a blank check. >> if congress in any way suggests that they're going to tie negotiations to debt ceiling votes and take us to the brink of default once again, as part of a budget negotiation which, by the way, we've never done in our history until we did it last year, i will not play that game. > >> sean: in this country historically it's been up to you, the individual and the government, to create a better life for the next generation. that means your kids, that means your gra
